let me try to answer some of the questions you raised in the Open Issues section.

- Why do we need non-interrupting start events?
The answer is that you may use them in Event Sub-Processes (only). Event Sub-Processes are Event Handlers in form of a Process.

- Is there a better way to depict non-interrupting events using black and white coloring?
Yes there is one. We decided to not use the black and white coloring but rahter dashed lines for non-interrupting events and solid lines for interrupting ones.
